"The Shack" is a 2017 drama film directed by Stuart Hazeldine and based on the novel of the same name by William P. Young. The movie follows Mackenzie "Mack" Phillips (played by Sam Worthington), a grieving father who has lost his young daughter to a violent crime. After receiving a mysterious invitation to a remote cabin in the woods, Mack meets three strangers who introduce themselves as the personifications of God, Jesus, and the Holy Spirit. Through his conversations with them, Mack is able to confront his pain, anger, and doubts and find a path towards healing and forgiveness. The film explores themes of faith, loss, and redemption. A grieving man receives a mysterious, personal invitation to meet with God at a place called "The Shack."
